How Much Do Movers Cost in Dubai? A 2026 Price Guide

Serene Dubai Movers and Packers

The honest answer to “how much do movers cost in Dubai” is that it depends on four things: how much you have, how much packing you want, how hard the access is at both ends, and when you are moving. What follows are realistic market ranges for 2026 so you can sanity-check a quote — not a price list, because nobody can price your move without seeing it.

Typical Dubai moving costs by property size

These are transport-and-labour ranges for a move within Dubai, based on published 2026 guides that broadly agree with one another. Professional packing typically adds another 30–50% on top.

Property Typical Dubai range (AED) Usual duration
Studio 800 – 1,200 Half a day
1-bedroom apartment 1,500 – 2,500 Half to full day
2-bedroom apartment 2,000 – 3,500 Full day
2-bedroom villa 2,500 – 4,000 Full day
3-bedroom villa 3,000 – 5,000 One long day or two
4-bedroom villa 4,500 – 7,000 Two days
5-bedroom villa 6,000 – 10,000+ Two to three days

Market ranges for context, not a quote. Your figure comes from a survey of your actual property.

What actually drives the price

Volume

The starting point, but a less reliable guide than people assume. A minimally furnished three-bedroom can be smaller than a well-stocked one-bedroom belonging to someone who cooks seriously and reads a lot. Bedroom count is a proxy; a survey is a measurement.

Access — the one that surprises people

Access is usually the difference between two quotes for the same flat. A fourth-floor walk-up in Deira takes roughly twice the crew hours of an identical apartment with a working service lift. A building on Marina Walk where the truck cannot reach the entrance adds a long carry to every single trip. A tower in Downtown Dubai that allocates a four-hour lift slot means bringing more people to finish inside it.

None of that is visible over the phone, which is why a phone quote is an estimate and a surveyed quote is a price.

Packing

Full packing services adds around 30–50%. Packing yourself genuinely saves money; the trade-off is time and breakage risk. A sensible middle path is to have the kitchen, glassware and wardrobes packed professionally and do books, clothes and linens yourself.

Timing

The last three days of the month and the first two of the next are peak, because Dubai tenancy contracts turn over then. Demand is higher, availability is lower, and building lift slots are contested. Moving mid-month is easier and often cheaper.

Why two quotes for the same flat differ so much

Almost always because they are quoting different jobs. The cheaper number frequently excludes one or more of: packing materials, furniture dismantling and reassembly, the stair carry, the second crew member needed for a walk-up, or working outside standard hours because the building insists on it.

So compare scope, not price. Ask each company what their number assumes about the lift, whether materials are included, and what happens if the job runs past the estimate. A quote given without anyone seeing your rooms — in person or on video — is a starting figure.

The costs that get added later

  • Long carries where the truck cannot park near the entrance
  • Stair moves where no service lift is available or the lift fails
  • Storage where handover dates do not line up
  • Specialist items — pianos, safes, aquariums, large artwork, gym equipment
  • Building permit fees and refundable damage deposits, which are charged by your building rather than the mover
  • Handyman work such as mounting a TV or fitting curtain rails at the new address

None of these are unreasonable charges. They are only unreasonable when they appear on the day rather than on the quote.

How to get an accurate number

Book a survey — fifteen minutes in person, or a video walkthrough on your phone. Show the mover the rooms, the store cupboard, the balcony and the stairwell or lift. Tell them the floor, whether the truck can park near the door, and the date. Then ask for the quote in writing with the scope listed.
